On the Construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), Office of the National Council for the Coordination of Public Participation have urged nongovernmental and civil society organizations to scale up their support for the dam.
The office held a consultation meeting with representatives of NGOs and CSOs to strengthen their support for the grand project. It was indicated on the occasion that NGOs and CSOs in the country have so far been contributing considerably for the project.
Addressing the gathering, Minister of Finance and Economic Cooperation Dr. Abraham Tekeste underlined that, “The grand dam project is part of the efforts to reduce poverty in the country. This, he said, is aligned with the objective of NGOs and CSOs in the country. To achieve their goal of ensuring development and prosperity, NGOs and CSOs need to collaborate with different stakeholders in the country.”
There are 3,119 local and foreign NGOs and CSOs in Ethiopia.
