The United States Foundation for Development in Africa (USADF) invites African companies, cooperatives and producer groups to come up with innovative solutions to increase their incomes, create jobs, improve farmers’ incomes and achieve sustainable growth based on the market. The Maximum amount to be awarded is USD 250,000. Applications submitted after January 29, 2018 will not be considered.
USADF will only accept proposals from companies, groups or co-operatives wholly owned by, and fully managed by, nationals operating in the sectors or value chains of the specified country. Applicants must be legally registered in their country and demonstrate the ability to control, manage and use both internal and external resources to expand their business.
Requirements of the organization: The organization must belong entirely to the nationals and be managed totally by them, organization must be legally registered as a national entity (or in the process of being registered, and the registration must be in effect before any form of funding is granted), organization must demonstrate joint working capacity and have the capacity to control, manage and use grant funds, owner (s) and the leaders must be in agreement with the problem to address and demonstrate a commitment to help their community, organization must have adequate management capacity and controls to manage USADF funds.
USADF will analyze all requests and contact the organizations most compatible with the country’s strategies and objectives. A tour of the organization’s site will take place, and the finalists’ files will be forwarded to USADF Washington for final evaluation and selection. After the completion of development stages of the project, a funding agreement will be signed between the USADF and the organization.
The technical partner of USADF will continue to provide assistance and monitor the organization during the implementation period of the grant. The funds will be disbursed to the organization during the block grant period depending on the implementation of the plans, activities and results achieved. Subsidized USADF grant organizations submit quarterly reports to USADF.
