The ALIPH (International alliance for the protection of heritage in conflict areas) invites applications for projects that protect or rehabilitate cultural heritage threatened or damaged by conflicts around the world.
The projects must develop protection measures or deliver concrete conservation or rehabilitation outcomes.
Objectives
In addition, they must:
- Contribute to local capacity building at all levels of expertise, in particular by offering on-the-job training;
- Contribute to awareness raising on cultural heritage protection;
- Promote cultural diversity and gender equality;
- Contribute to economic and social sustainable development, reconciliation, and peacebuilding.
Focus Areas
For the 4th call, ALIPH particularly encourages submissions focusing on:
- The fight against looting and illicit trafficking of cultural goods;
- The protection, conservation, and rehabilitation of cultural heritage in Yemen.
Eligible actions
ALIPH finances projects in three areas with specific expected outcomes.
- Preventive protection measures
- Outcome: Mitigating the risks and lessening the damages
- Emergency actions during conflicts
- Outcome: Protecting cultural heritage at risk
- Post-conflict actions
- Outcome: Rehabilitating and restoring cultural heritage
Eligibility Criteria
- Language: Proposals must be submitted in English and include an Executive Summary both in French and in English.
- Eligible institutions:
- Institutions in charge of the protection, conservation, and promotion of cultural heritage
- International, intergovernmental, and national institutions
- Private and public organizations (foundations, NGO, non-profit, charity, associations, etc.)
- The applicants must demonstrate that their Institution has:
- Previous experience in heritage protection (including management of projects of comparable size);
- Financial stability;
- Relevant expertise;
- Capacity to deliver the project;
- Local partnerships.
