The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is seeking applications from eligible organisations for a program entitled “Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Grant Program” that seeks to develop new efforts and expand existing efforts at the community level to counter violent extremist recruitment and radicalization to violence by funding activities that enhance the resilience of communities being targeted by violent extremists for recruitment, provide alternatives to individuals who have started down a road to violent extremism, and that create or amplify alternative messages to terrorist/violent extremist recruitment and radicalization efforts.
In addition, the CVE Grant Program seeks to develop and support efforts by U.S.-based entities that are broadly countering violent extremists’ on-line recruitment efforts aimed at U.S.-based individuals
DHS will support innovative and cost effective programs, projects, and activities which establishes or uses existing effectiveness measures.

- Building capacity of community-level non-profit organizations active in CVE

The available funding amount is $10,000,000.

- Building capacity of community: $250,000 – $1,000,000

- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
- Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
- Independent school districts
- Private institutions of higher education
- State governments
- Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
- Special district governments
- County governments
