Deadline: 26-November-2025
The Limerick City and County Council is requesting applications for its Dolores O’Riordan Music Bursary Award to support a Limerick professional musician to develop their career.
The Dolores O’Riordan Music Bursary aims to strengthen Limerick’s cultural landscape by attracting and retaining creative professionals in the region. It supports musicians in developing new artistic work, enhancing their knowledge through research or short-term training, and building professional capacity through initiatives like website development or mentoring. The bursary also covers any other activities that contribute meaningfully to an artist’s creative growth.
This bursary provides financial assistance to professional musicians for activities including the creation of new work, research, short-term courses, or mentoring. It also supports professional development through online promotion, documentation, or website creation.
The bursary offers up to €4,000 for artistic development. The funding covers costs until December 31, 2026, and can include resources, materials, equipment, or third-party expertise where required. In addition, up to €150 may be allocated for Safe to Create Training modules, which are essential for drawing down final funds.
Applicants must be professional artists, recognised by peers or institutions, and must operate within Limerick City and County. They must be over 18 years old and not in full-time undergraduate or postgraduate education during the bursary period. The award is open to artists at all stages of their professional careers.
Applications are assessed based on the overall quality and ambition of the proposal, the applicant’s track record and experience, and the feasibility of delivering the proposed activity within the stated timeframe.
The assessment process involves initial eligibility screening by the Arts Office, followed by evaluation by a panel appointed by Limerick City and County Council. Successful applicants receive a Letter of Offer outlining the terms of the grant.
Required supporting materials include a completed application form, a detailed CV, up to six examples of work, and an explanation of how the proposal aligns with Limerick’s Cultural Strategy. Optional materials such as letters of support and detailed project proposals may enhance the application.
Grants over €1,000 are paid in two instalments: 80% upon approval and 20% following the submission of a project report. All funds must be drawn down by November 7, 2026. Recipients are also required to acknowledge Limerick City and County Council in all promotional materials, including websites, posters, and social media.
Applications must be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday, 26th November 2025. Late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted.
