Deadline: 01-Oct-2025
The Conservation Research Foundation Museum is excited to announce its Getty Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellowships, designed to support early-career scholars worldwide in making original and significant contributions to art history. These fellowships are part of the Getty Scholars Program, which brings together a diverse cohort of senior scholars and junior fellows focused on a specific annual research theme.
The program offers three main grant categories: Scholar Grants for established researchers with a PhD before September 1, 2022, or those with strong professional records, Postdoctoral Fellowships for recent PhD graduates, and Pre-doctoral Fellowships for current PhD candidates. All fellowships are held at either the Getty Center or the Getty Villa.
Applications are welcomed from scholars of all nationalities and residences, with special encouragement for those from outside the United States or who have experience in non-US art historical contexts. Getty also provides visa support for accepted residential fellows.
Fellowships are awarded competitively, with evaluation criteria including the quality of the application, alignment with the annual theme, the project’s potential contribution to the field, and the applicant’s qualifications and achievements.
Applicants must submit their materials through the grant portal, including a project proposal, selected bibliography, doctoral dissertation abstract, CV, writing sample, confirmation letter, and letters of recommendation.
