Deadline: 15-Dec-2025
The National Arts Council has launched its Market and Audience Development Grant to build audiences, patrons and supporters for your artistic efforts at home and abroad.
They recognise that arts intermediaries, such as galleries, presenters, impresarios, literary publishers etc., also play a role in bringing artists and artworks to audiences and markets. This grant also supports such efforts that directly benefit Singapore artists, particularly in reaching new audiences and markets. Like you, they believe that beyond marketing, there is a need to develop relationships with audiences and patrons, and that once experienced, the arts can empower and enrich lives. In the long run, they hope that this will inspire a deep and abiding appreciation for the arts as part of their culture.
The grant supports activities in two main areas. Marketing and Audience Development Initiatives include market research, branding, publicity for arts groups or specific projects, and the production of materials for sponsor or audience engagement. International Activities supported include international touring, participation in international arts platforms like festivals, and international visit programmes for media and arts personalities. Funding will vary based on the proposal’s merit and innovativeness, its potential impact on reaching new audiences, the applicant’s ability to execute the project, and a realistic budget.
The grant is open to individuals who are Singapore citizens or Permanent Residents, with priority given to self-employed persons. Organisations whose core business is arts-related and are registered with ACRA or as a society can also apply. Projects with foreign collaborations are eligible as long as the lead applicant and at least half the team are Singaporean or PR.
Applications will not be supported if the applicant is a group for non-secular purposes, or if the proposed project has already started. Projects without a clear arts component, those held at a religious venue, or those not intended for public consumption are not eligible. Additionally, NAC will not support applications for projects intended for fundraising, those under the auspices of a school, or those for academic purposes. Applicants with pending evaluation reports or outstanding debts with NAC are also not eligible.
For all projects excluding travel, individuals and non-profit organisations can receive up to 70% of a realistic budget, while for-profit organisations can receive up to 50%. The funding is capped at $70,000 per financial year for each applicant. For travel-related projects, applicants can receive up to 100% for airfare and freight, and up to 70% for associated travel costs for individuals and non-profits, or 50% for for-profit organisations. A maximum of three travel-related grants can be received per financial year.
For grants below $10,000, a Financial Report is required. For grants of $10,000 and above, a Certified Statement of Accounts certified by an accountant registered with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants or an equivalent body must be submitted. Applicants must be able to provide proof of the accountant’s registration.
