Deadline: 20-Oct-2025
Applications are now open for the Residency Programme to support professional development, cultural exchange, and artistic experimentation.
This residency open call is for an early-career Argentine artist based in Argentina. The eleven-week, fully funded residency will take place at Gasworks in London from 7 April – 23 June 2026. All their residencies are self-led, nonprescriptive and process-based; they are about enabling artists to research and develop new work, engage with the city, and build their networks. They provide administrative, pastoral, and curatorial support throughout the residency, but they expect residents to be self-motivated, and to lead on the research and production of their own work, during their time with them.
The selected artist will benefit from full access to a private studio at Gasworks, as well as accommodation in their Residency House, shared with other international artists. The opportunity covers economy return flights, local transfers, visa costs, and a weekly stipend of £175 to support living expenses in London. In addition, the residency includes a materials budget of up to £800, a prepaid travel card for unlimited journeys within central London, access to basic tools and AV equipment, as well as networking opportunities, studio visits, and curatorial support. A dedicated residency page will be hosted on Gasworks’ website, including a video interview introducing the artist’s work. The residency will conclude with an Open Studio event and presentation scheduled for 13 June 2026.
Eligible applicants must be early-career Argentine contemporary visual artists based in Argentina with at least a moderate level of spoken English. The selection will be carried out by a panel comprising representatives from Gasworks, URRA, and external advisors. A shortlist of four artists will be interviewed online before the final decision is made.
Gasworks encourages applications from artists of all backgrounds and offers accessible facilities and accommodation. However, the residency is limited to individual artists only and cannot accommodate duos, collectives, partners, or children.
Applications are accepted digitally through the online form available on Gasworks’ website. Required documents include a cover sheet, a 250-word artistic practice statement, a 250-word residency plan, up to 15 images or media samples of recent work, a CV of no more than three pages, and any relevant documentation such as press articles or publications. Applicants may also submit spoken or video responses for the statements if preferred. Submissions must be in a single PDF file not exceeding 15MB. The deadline for applications is 20 October 2025 at 1pm UK time.
