Calls are now open for KUTUP (POLAR)-1001 and KUTUP (POLAR) Foreign Research Base Participation Projects, supporting scientific studies focused on polar regions. These initiatives align with Türkiye’s vision to become a global leader in original polar science research.
Turkish scientific expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctica are organized annually under the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye and coordinated by TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute (PRI). The goal is to conduct original, sustainable, and high-quality scientific research by Turkish scientists, promote international collaboration, and establish Türkiye as a respected voice in polar studies.
Funding for KUTUP 1001 projects can reach up to 1,200,000 TL, excluding PTÿ, with no annual budget limits. The PTÿ upper limit is 100,000 TL, and no Institutional Share will be paid. Project durations can be up to 24 months.
The call is open to public and private institutions affiliated with TÜBİTAK in Türkiye. Centers, institutes, and research groups may apply according to their own procedures. Priority will be given to project managers who have not received support under the 13th POLAR Research Call.
