Deadline: 18-Sep-2025
Vinnova is inviting proposals for projects that promote research and innovation collaborations between Swedish small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and actors in Singapore, with a focus on quantum technology.
The goal is to give Sweden a technological edge and strengthen the global competitiveness of Swedish organizations by tapping into innovation opportunities in Singapore. Singapore is recognized as a global leader in emerging technologies and serves as a key hub for research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in Southeast Asia.
Both countries share similarities such as small populations, strong R&D sectors, limited domestic markets, and a high demand for global talent. These common traits make them ideal partners for collaboration, particularly in areas where their capabilities complement each other.
This call aims to position Swedish SMEs more prominently on the global technology stage. It also supports the broader objective of deepening trade and innovation ties between Sweden and Singapore, contributing to long-term, sustainable development in quantum technology.
The main objectives are to foster lasting innovation collaborations in quantum technology, promote knowledge development and sustainable innovation, and strengthen skills development and talent pipelines in the field.
Applicants can request up to SEK 250,000 for projects lasting 6 to 9 months. The total preliminary budget for this call is SEK 1.5 million.
Eligible costs include personnel expenses such as salaries and social security contributions; equipment and rental costs (excluding regular premises); consulting and licensing fees, which cannot exceed 20% of a project partner’s budget unless justified; and other direct costs like materials and travel. Indirect costs are allowed up to 30% of personnel costs, with exceptions for some institutions.
This call targets Swedish teams that already have partnerships with actors in Singapore. It is open to both quantum technology specialists and those looking to apply quantum solutions in defined areas. Activities can take place in both Sweden and Singapore.
Projects must be anchored with a committed partner in Singapore, and the collaboration should be clearly defined through a letter of intent. Each project must include at least one actor from Sweden and one from Singapore, with the Swedish SME acting as the coordinating partner.
The coordinating participant must be a Swedish legal entity actively operating in Sweden. While foreign organizations may participate as partners, they cannot receive Vinnova funding if they are not established in Sweden.
All project partners must be legal entities. Individuals or sole proprietors are not eligible. The project manager must be employed by the Swedish coordinating party, and the project cannot start before the proposal is submitted.
Proposals should ideally be submitted in English, as international experts will be evaluating them. Proposals submitted in Swedish will be automatically translated. Required attachments include a project description, CVs, de minimis certificate (if applicable), and a letter of intent from the Singaporean partner.
Applicants must use Vinnova’s mandatory templates and follow the specified headings and formats provided in the documents.
