Deadline: 01-Dec-2025
The Eva Crane Trust has announced to foster innovative projects and collaborations that explore and expand knowledge in apiology, beekeeping practices, and the historical significance of bees.
The Eva Crane Trust offers financial support for research and projects that advance the understanding of bees and beekeeping. Established by Dr. Eva Crane, the Trust funds initiatives in apiology, citizen science, events, and publications. Applicants can choose from four grant categories: Science, Citizen Science, Events, and Books. The maximum grant amount for 2025 is £5,000,
The Trust prioritizes projects that are innovative, original, and have a strong intellectual or strategic rationale. It favors “pump priming” funding to help initiate projects that might not otherwise get off the ground. Support is particularly welcomed for students starting research in this field who have already received a fellowship elsewhere. The Trust does not fund standalone travel or conference registration fees, academic chairs, long-term or core funding, retrospective funding, commercial enterprises, or basic beekeeping enterprises. It also does not cover institution overheads.
To apply, applicants must register on the Trust’s online platform. The application process opens six weeks before each deadline. Applicants are required to provide a financial breakdown of their expenditure in Pounds Sterling (GBP), which is carefully scrutinized. Match-funded projects are looked upon favorably, and evidence of funds already acquired must be provided at the application stage. For ongoing grants, a progress report should be submitted 9–12 months after the commencement of the first grant and reviewed by the Trustees before any further funding is released.
