The National Trust for Nature Conservation invites proposals from final-year Bachelor’s and Master’s students to conduct research as a requirement for the partial fulfillment of their academic degrees.
Research proposals must be submitted on the topics specified in the notice. A minimum of ten grants will be awarded (7 for Master’s level students and 3 for Bachelor’s level students). This program provides research grants to Nepalese students pursuing studies in conservation, biodiversity, and related fields.
The prioritized research topics/themes are: Religious Tourism and its impacts on cultural and biodiversity conservation in Western Nepal, Tourism status, gaps and ways to improve nature positive tourism business in and around Rara NP, Human-Black Bear Interactions in the Manaslu Conservation Area, Status of predator proof corrals and its effectiveness in deterring livestock depredation in Annapurna Conservation Area, Human-Black Bear Interactions in the Southern belt of Annapurna Conservation Area, Behavior and Activity Patterns of Snow Leopard (Panthera uncia) at Central Zoo, Nepal, Comparative Study of Intestinal Parasites in Captive vs. Free-Ranging Birds: A Risk of Cross-7 Contamination in Central Zoo, Population status of Swamp Francolin and threats, Invasive Species in Annapurna Conservation Area, Aquatic species survey in Bhujung.

Applicants must be Nepalese citizens currently studying for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Forestry, Zoology, Botany, Environmental Science, Animal Science, Natural Resource Management, Wildlife and Protected Area Management, Veterinary Science, Rural Development, or a related field at institutions in Nepal.
Required documents include a cover letter, recommendation from supervisor/college, and a research proposal. Both electronic and hard copy submission is acceptable. For electronic submission, a single PDF copy should be sent. The deadline for submission is 26 September, 2025 at 5:00 PM.
