Deadline: 28-Jul-2025
Gasworks has announced an open call for its upcoming residency program, inviting applications from Lebanese contemporary visual artists based in Lebanon. The fully funded eleven-week residency will take place in London from 6 October to 22 December 2025. The program aims to support professional development, artistic experimentation, and cultural exchange through a non-prescriptive, self-directed approach. Artists are encouraged to use this time for research, development of new work, and to build international networks.
Gasworks offers comprehensive support during the residency, including access to a private studio, single-room accommodation in a shared house, and return economy airfare with luggage and local taxi transfers. All visa costs are covered, and assistance with the visa process is provided. Residents receive a weekly stipend of £150 for living expenses, a materials budget of up to £800, and a prepaid travel card for use within central London. Additional support includes curatorial guidance, studio visits with professionals, and a public Open Studio event on 13 December.
The selected artist will also benefit from access to basic tools and AV equipment, a dedicated page on the Gasworks website, and opportunities for engagement with London’s art community. Networking sessions and individual meetings with curators and artists will be arranged during the residency.
Applicants must be Lebanese nationals currently living in Lebanon, with at least a moderate command of spoken English. Selection is based on artistic quality and potential, particularly for those who have not worked in London before. A shortlist of four candidates will be invited to an online interview before the final selection.
To apply, artists must submit a single PDF including their contact details, a 250-word statement about their artistic practice, a 250-word plan for their residency, up to 15 images or media samples of recent work with descriptions, a CV of no more than three pages, and any relevant supporting documentation such as exhibition materials or press coverage.
