The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) offers Grants-in-Aid to professional associations, universities, colleges, and research institutes involved in social sciences for the publication or operation of their research journals.
The main objective of the grant is to help improve the quality and consistency of research journals published by these organisations. The support is intended to ensure regular publication and enhance academic standards.
The grant amount is up to Rs. 5,00,000 per year. This funding is provided on an ad-hoc basis and is aimed at journals that focus primarily on research-based content, following academic standards such as peer review, proper referencing, and citation practices.
Eligible publishers can be universities, departments, colleges, research institutes, or professional associations in the field of social sciences. If the applicant is a professional association or privately funded organisation, it should preferably operate at the national level and must be registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
The association or organisation must have been active for at least five years. Its journal may focus on a single discipline or be interdisciplinary in nature. Applicants must submit annual reports and audited accounts for the past three years, and the journal should have a minimum of 50 subscribers.
