Deadline: 15-Sep-2025
The KADIST is seeking a creative thinker and curator for the inaugural edition of a Curatorial Fellowship based in Paris.
This part-time, 18-month opportunity, starting in 2026, offers professional experience and the chance to join the KADIST Paris team and to work closely with guest curators, and advisors from KADIST’s international network as well as with partner organizations in Paris. Designed for a professional interested in working across disciplines, cultures, and scales, the fellowship encourages experimentation and critical reflection while offering meaningful engagement with KADIST’s team and evolving program.
The fellowship is a unique opportunity to participate in institutional transformation and to imagine how art can expand into new forms of public engagement and curatorial experimentation. The fellowship activities focus on programs, specifically one exhibition and approximately six public programs per year, and connecting with KADIST’s global network. The annual theme for 2026 is “Land Work, Land Rights.”
The fellowship is part-time (60%) and the activities include curating an exhibition that relates to the annual theme and draws primarily from the KADIST collection. The fellow will also contribute curatorial research and support to other exhibitions, and develop and organize public events to deepen the annual theme. These events may include talks, screenings, performances, and interdisciplinary formats, and may be developed with partner organizations, guest curators, and advisors to diversify audiences. A key part of the role is to host public events at KADIST’s Paris venue and work closely with the team to ensure smooth coordination. The fellow will also support artists and guests and write and edit texts in French or English when necessary.
Beyond programs, the fellow will join the KADIST Paris team and actively contribute to its daily activities, programs, and operations. This involves attending team meetings, working collaboratively, and representing KADIST at public events and with partner organizations. The fellow will also collaborate with the Program Manager on program implementation, including checklists, budgets, artists’ contracts, and communication. It is also important for the fellow to support and maintain international connections between the Paris art community and KADIST’s network of artists, curators, and advisors.
The compensation package for the 18-month fellowship is a total fee of €30,000 TTC, disbursed monthly. This includes free housing in a private apartment in Paris, with all charges included. The fellow will have full access to KADIST’s venue in Paris, including a shared office, exhibition, and event spaces. There is also an annual budget of up to €15,000 for public events and €25,000 per exhibition. All proposed programming and related budgets are subject to review and approval by the KADIST Steering Committee. The contract type is freelance, and there is no visa or legal fee coverage.
Applications are welcome from critics, writers, curators, artistic directors, researchers, and cultural practitioners. Ideal candidates demonstrate a solid understanding of the Parisian cultural and social landscape, have strong connections to one or more non-Western cultures, and are familiar with or interested in the editorial framework of “Land Work, Land Rights.” Applicants should be able to shape cultural conversations and engage audiences through innovative exhibition-making and public programming that addresses pressing societal issues. A track record of interdisciplinary collaboration, a good understanding of transnational artistic dialogues, strong organizational, collaborative, and communication skills, and fluency in both French and English are also important. The deadline for applications is September 15, 2025, at 12 pm CEST.
