Deadline: 04-Aug-2025
Applications are open for the Post-Doctoral Fellowships, offering 25 seats annually to support specialized research in emerging areas for a duration of one year. This fellowship targets individuals with a strong research background, demonstrated through publications and recognitions.
The fellowship provides Rs. 1.08 lakh per month under the fellowship budget and Rs. 1.0 lakh per year as a contingency grant. It is a temporary assignment, valid for one year only.
Only eligible institutions can submit proposals to receive PDF seats. These institutions will then enroll candidates. Applicants must be Indian citizens with a PhD from a recognized university, maintaining first-class academic records throughout all levels. The PhD must have been completed within the last five years.
Applicants must be under 40 years of age at the time of application and should not have completed their PhD from the same institution where they seek the fellowship. A mentor or guide must be identified by the institution, holding a regular academic or research post with a PhD in science or engineering.
Preference will be given to applicants with active industry linkages or those addressing industry-relevant problems. Proposals must clearly define objectives, outcomes, and deliverables. Applicants currently in regular employment are not eligible, though those in temporary roles may apply if they agree to resign upon selection.
Applicants receiving any other fellowship are ineligible. If a fellow chooses to discontinue, the institution must notify the PhD Cell, DIC; MeitY with one month’s notice and stop all expenditures from the termination date.
If the fellow accepts any part- or full-time assignment, the award will be canceled. The fellowship may be stopped or withdrawn at any point due to poor progress, misuse of funds, non-compliance with guidelines, or other valid reasons as determined by the PhD Cell, DIC; MeitY.
