Deadline: 08-Oct-2025
Are you a high school student or undergraduate with a passion for science and exploration? The Rising Explorer Grant program provides funding to help you turn your scientific ideas into real-world field research.
With awards ranging from $1,500–$3,000, they aim to support bold, curious thinkers who are excited about making a contribution to human knowledge and the well-being of our planet. This program is open to high school students and college undergraduates worldwide. They welcome applicants from every background and every corner of the globe. If you have a strong idea, a clear plan, and the drive to see it through, they want to hear from you.
They support projects in field sciences across all disciplines, including but not limited to biology and ecology, wildlife conservation, environmental science, archaeology and anthropology, and marine and freshwater studies. The key is that your project must be true science—designed to generate new knowledge—not just an adventure, travel experience, or school field trip. This grant is more than funding—it’s an invitation to step into the world of field research.
Their goal is to help launch careers in science, giving young explorers the resources and confidence to pursue their questions, test their ideas, and make meaningful contributions to their understanding of the world. Those who become Rising Explorers are automatically considered for Explorers Club membership, which unlocks endless opportunities for networking with other students and professionals in their field.
The Rising Explorer Grant is designed to provide young researchers with the tools and confidence to develop their projects into meaningful contributions to science. By supporting field-based studies across diverse disciplines, the program seeks to empower students who have the passion and determination to pursue their research goals.
Applicants must submit their project proposals through an online form. Required materials include a project title and description, an expedition timeline, a detailed budget, and information on how and where the project will be conducted. Applicants must also explain how findings will be shared, whether through public lectures, journal articles, or school papers, along with two letters of support and any available information about necessary permits or ethical considerations.
They are currently accepting applications for research projects that will commence in 2026. The application deadline is Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 5:00 PM EST, with awards to be announced in mid to late January 2026.
