Deadline: 15-Sep-2025
The Hungarian government has reopened the call for proposals to support participation in the Horizon Europe Key Digital Technologies (KDT) partnership, providing domestic funding to enable Hungarian applicants to join KDT-managed international projects.
The programme focuses on fundamental research, industrial research, and experimental development, while also supporting the protection of industrial property rights and facilitating market entry.
This funding opportunity is managed by the NRDI Fund and is intended for Hungarian applicants who are members of, or joining, consortia of joint international projects approved under the KDT partnership. Eligible participants include budgetary institutions, enterprises, non-profit organisations, higher education institutions, enterprise-based research organisations, non-profit research organisations, and members of the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network. Proposals must be submitted electronically through the official Participant Portal and include a duly signed statement verifying submission. The maximum project duration is 48 months, and the total budget allocated for this programme is HUF 2,557,975,000, with funding available for 1 to 4 projects.
Applicants must hold a funding agreement for the European portion of the project before the national decision is made. Eligible project activities include basic research, applied (industrial) research, and experimental development. Activities such as publicity, coordination, market access, intellectual property protection, travel, and purchase of equipment or intangible assets are not eligible independently.
The call is open to entities with a registered seat in Hungary or a branch office in Hungary if based in the European Economic Area, provided they meet specific criteria such as having completed at least one business year for companies or accreditation for higher education and research institutions.
For the applicants, proposals are accepted on a rolling basis until 16:00 (CET) on 15 September 2025. Evaluations are conducted by the NRDI Office, and the programme ensures that Hungarian participants can effectively access and contribute to international research collaborations in the field of key digital technologies.
