Deadline: 15-November-2025
The grant aims to address key issues related to the acceptance of foreign human resources in Japan by supporting research, collaboration, and system-building initiatives. It encourages projects that explore the social impacts of increasing foreign talent, propose solutions to existing challenges, and create collaborative platforms connecting stakeholders such as researchers, government officials, and local communities.
The program supports initiatives focused on empowering foreign talent, improving access to information, strengthening care and support systems, promoting highly skilled talent inflow, and drawing lessons from Japanese companies’ overseas experiences.
The total grant amount is 55 million yen, with approximately 5 million to 10 million yen available per project. The grant period will run from May 1, 2026, to April 30, 2028 (2 years) or April 30, 2029 (3 years).
The grant program encourages cross-disciplinary teams with the appropriate breadth for the chosen field, while individual applications will not be accepted. There are no restrictions on age, affiliation, or nationality, but the representative and contact person must be able to communicate daily in Japanese, and all application documents must be submitted in Japanese.
The plan must incorporate policy recommendations for appropriate targets, dissemination of results through public symposiums, and active engagement with the Foundation during the grant period.
Final decisions will be made by the Toyota Foundation Board of Directors after deliberations by a selection committee of external experts.
