The call for the CapitaLand Sustainability X Challenge (CSXC) 2022 is now open! The global search for innovations that make buildings more climate-resilient and resource-efficient is on. Up to 10 outstanding innovations will be given an opportunity to pilot at selected CapitaLand properties around the world and up to S$50,000 to cover each pilot’s costs.
CapitaLand Sustainability X Challenge provides an opportunity for innovators to work with them in making buildings more climate-resilient and resource-efficient.
What are the challenge themes?
The themes are:
- Low carbon transition
- Water conservation & resilience
- Waste management & circular economy
- Healthy & safe buildings
Each theme has challenge statements that your solution should aim to address.
Challenge Statement Details
- Low carbon transition
- How might they achieve onsite clean energy solutions for existing buildings?
- How might they achieve significant reduction in energy consumption for existing buildings?
- Water conservation & resilience
- How can they adopt new ways of water management in existing properties in order to detect abnormalities in the water usage pattern and/ or leakages?
- How might they reduce potable water usage in existing buildings with water harvesting and/or recycling methods?
- Waste management & circular economy
- How might they better segregate waste at source for recycling or treatment?
- What is a viable circular economic solution that CapitaLand can introduce to manage resources and waste across its properties and construction sites?
- Healthy & safe buildings
- How might they improve indoor air quality (IAQ) to enhance wellness of users in the existing buildings?
Award Information
- The top 10 startups with the most ground-breaking solutions will get to pitch them at the CSXC 2022 Demo Day tentatively scheduled for June 2022.
- Up to 10 startups will each be given an exclusive opportunity to pilot, test and implement their solutions with CapitaLand, and the chance to secure up to S$50,000 in project funding.
- All costs required to undertake the pilot may be covered by the project funding including (but not limited to) equipment and software costs, material and production costs, and manpower costs (excluding founders’ salaries).
- Travel and business development costs will not be covered. Manpower costs should not exceed more than 20% of the grant.
Eligibility Criteria
You are eligible if you are:
- Aged 18 years or older;
- Not an employee of CapitaLand Group or Plug and Play;
- Not directly involved in the organization of or judging of the Challenge;
- Not immediate family members of any person directly involved in the organisation of or judging of the Challenge;
- proposing a solution that is at least at Technology Readiness Level 8 : The final product in its final configuration is successfully demonstrated through test and analysis for its intended operational environment and platform (ground, airborne, or space); and
- All Submissions must:
- be original work owned by the Participant(s); and
- not violate or infringe upon any Intellectual Property Rights or proprietary right or other rights including but not limited to contract, copyright, patent, trademark, open-source license permissions, and/or privacy rights, of any other person or entity.
