Deadline: 07-Nov-2025
The German Government has announced funding for small-scale development assistance projects in Nepal, with the aim of directly supporting local communities and contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The program is designed for community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, and faith-based groups that can implement impactful, sustainable initiatives within a one-year period from January 1 to December 31, 2026.
Each project can receive up to €25,000 in funding. To be eligible, projects must demonstrate measurable success, provide lasting benefits for the target community, and align closely with the SDGs. The initiatives must be self-contained, avoiding recurring financial obligations for the Embassy, and must include clear plans for covering follow-up costs. Applicants are also expected to contribute financially or qualitatively to the project, showing shared responsibility for its success.
Organizations applying must prove they have the knowledge and expertise necessary to implement the proposed project effectively. Applications should outline earlier initiatives carried out by the organization, any assistance previously received from other donors, and whether the current proposal has been submitted elsewhere for funding. A detailed financial plan, timetable, and project description are required, along with proof that the organization can manage procurement locally. Staff costs should be minimized and kept strictly project-related.
The Embassy emphasizes close monitoring and evaluation, with grant recipients required to oversee project implementation and submit to possible reviews or visits by Embassy representatives. Projects must focus on bringing sustainable, positive impact, particularly for marginalized groups, ensuring that local communities experience real and lasting change.
By funding these small-scale projects, the German Government seeks to empower grassroots organizations in Nepal to deliver meaningful, community-driven development outcomes that improve lives and contribute to long-term resilience.
