Deadline: 01-Sep-2025
The iF SOCIAL IMPACT PRIZE supports projects that make a meaningful contribution to improving society. It invites submissions that align with one or more of the 15 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), including no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry and innovation, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities, responsible consumption, climate action, life below water, and life on land.
Winners of the iF SOCIAL IMPACT PRIZE receive a share of EUR 100,000. Their projects are also published on the iF Design Website, gaining exposure to a global design community, the general public, and media. Selected projects also receive an official winner certificate.
The prize is open to companies, design studios, NGOs, foundations, public and other organizations, social enterprises, and entrepreneurs. However, student concepts are not eligible for submission.
Projects are evaluated by a jury using five key criteria. These include problem-solving, assessing whether the project addresses a real issue with innovation, uniqueness, and usability. Moral and ethical standards are reviewed for their alignment with human dignity, cultural sensitivity, environmental responsibility, and collective good.
The jury also looks at design relevance—whether design principles or creativity are part of the concept or its implementation. The efficiency of effort versus value is another measure, focusing on resource use, feasibility, and long-term impact. Lastly, the experience created by the project is considered, particularly its ability to foster fairness, justice, fun, and social dialogue.
