Deadline: 12-Nov-2025
The Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade in Seychelles has announced the National Grants Scheme, a funding initiative designed to support not-for-profit organizations that contribute to the country’s sustainable and inclusive development.
This scheme is financed through the Social Program of the Central Government and forms part of the Annual National Budget. It aims to strengthen projects that align with the National Development Strategy (NDS) 2024–2028 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Through this program, eligible organizations can receive financial assistance to implement impactful community-based initiatives. Funding is determined on a case-by-case basis by the National Grants Committee, following a formal application and evaluation process. Successful applicants will enter into a Standard Funding Agreement with the Ministry, which outlines the approved amount, objectives, terms, and disbursement arrangements.
The National Grants Committee will prioritize projects and programs that advance the NDS’s three pillars of development—Economic, Social, and Environmental—and contribute directly to the country’s six national priority areas: a modern public service, a transformative economic agenda, a healthy nation, promotion of law and order, a modern education system aligned with future needs, and environmental sustainability and climate change.
Under the scheme, organizations may apply for grants ranging from SCR 100,000 to SCR 750,000, categorized based on the size of the budget and disbursement schedule. Category 1 covers projects up to SCR 200,000, disbursed in two installments, while Category 2 supports projects between SCR 200,000 and SCR 750,000, released in three installments. The minimum project duration is six months and the maximum is twelve months, with all funded projects required to conclude by 31st December 2025.
To qualify, applicants must be legally registered as not-for-profit or non-governmental organizations under the Registration of Associations Act. They must have operated in Seychelles for at least one year and be financially accountable, with audited financial statements for the year ending 31 December 2023.
The National Grants Scheme represents a vital opportunity for civil society and community-driven organizations to advance Seychelles’ national priorities, promote inclusive growth, and strengthen local capacity toward achieving the country’s long-term vision for sustainable development.
