UNESCO Office in Viet Nam is looking for a company to provide communication service for a communication campaign on zero waste, plastic and solid waste collection, sorting, treating, reduce, reuse, recycle, repair, rethink, and refuse in Biosphere Reserves designated by UNESCO via social media within the framework of the Youth and Innovation for Ocean Initiative from March 2023 to June 2023.
UNESCO and The Coca-Cola Foundation (TCCF) are working closely with other partners to implement the “Youth and Innovation for Ocean Initiative”. The initiative aims to enhance public awareness and foster social inclusion by mobilizing youth and young professionals on plastic and solid waste collection, recycle and reuse in UNESCO-designated sites in Vietnam, contributing to sustainable development of UNESCO-designated sites as learning sites for green and inclusive development.
Specifically, the project supports UNESCO World Man and Biosphere Reserves and coastal communities in Viet Nam to combat plastic waste by empowering youth and young professionals to put forward innovative and practical solutions in the areas of collecting, sorting, treating, reduce, reuse, recycle, repair, rethink, and refuse– all fostering sustainable and green growth in the country.
Tasks
Within the framework of the natural science program of UNESCO Việt Nam, the Contractor, acting upon the overall supervision of Head of Natural Science Unit, in closely working with the National Associate Project Officer and Communication Officer at UNESCO Việt Nam, will provide communication service via social media as following plan:
- Develop a communication plan for the campaign on zero waste, plastic and solid waste collection, sorting, treating, reduce, reuse, recycle, repair, rethink, and refuse in Biosphere Reserves designated by UNESCO from March 2023 to June 2023. The communication plan should include, but not limit to, key messages of campaign, target audiences, detail workplan, creative brief, etc.
- Objective: Raising awareness toward changing social behavior on plastic and solid waste collection, reuse and recycle, reduce, rethink, repair etc. for zero waste in Man and Biosphere Reserves designated by UNESCO
- Topic: Toward Zero Waste in UNESCO’s Man and Biosphere Reserve
- Timeline: March 2023 to June 2023
- Target audience: Vietnamese community include youth (18 – 35 years old)
- Channels: can be various but must include social media (Facebook UNESCO Office in Viet Nam)
- Ensure gender equality
- Develop contents for posts
- Design visual for posts
- Work closely with UNESCO’s project officer and communications officer to publish approved content and visual
- Ensure wide reach and engagement of the audience with at least total 200,000 online reach and 40,000 engagements on social media.
Expected Projects
- In the communication component, the project is expected to:
- encourage youth and young professionals to take responsibility for actions and utilize their talents in tackling the plastic waste issues at ground level;
- raise awareness and knowledge of youth and community on zero waste, plastic and solid waste collection, sorting, treating, reduce, reuse, recycle, repair, rethink, and refuse in Biosphere Reserves designated by UNESCO through communication campaign and long-term education program;
- disseminate key message to promote plastic/marine debris management in Biosphere Reserves for sustainable development;
- raise awareness and mobilize support from different stakeholders, donors, private sectors, and other actors in favor of plastic issues.
- The campaign is expected to:
- raising awareness toward changing social behavior on plastic and solid waste collection, sorting, treating, reduce, reuse, recycle, repair, rethink, and refuse etc. for zero waste in Biosphere Reserves designated by UNESCO in Vietnam;
- to promote plastic/marine debris/solid waste management in Biosphere Reserves for sustainable development including ground-solutions for zero waste conducted by community;
- mobilize joint efforts from different stakeholders, donors, private sectors, and other actors in favor of plastic/marine debris issues.

Requirements
- At least 5 years of working experience in conduct communication activities, including campaign, awareness raising via social media or any equivalent experience.
- Requirements of creative, dynamic and youth-oriented products.
- Experiences in working for international organization, or United Nations in the area of plastic waste reduction for youth is an asset.
