Deadline: 10-Feb-2026
The Government of the Republic of Croatia has launched a new call for proposals to strengthen the role of volunteerism in promoting social, economic, and democratic development across the country.
The initiative aims to enhance the capacity of civil society organisations and volunteer organisers to manage volunteer programmes more effectively, thereby improving the quality and reach of services in key sectors such as education, healthcare, and social welfare.
The call focuses on three main objectives: improving the capacity of volunteer organisers for efficient management, increasing the number of high-quality and sustainable volunteer programmes, and promoting the overall value and importance of volunteerism in communities. Through these goals, the programme seeks to foster civic engagement and ensure that volunteerism continues to serve as a vital contributor to community development and public well-being.
The target groups include volunteers, employees of partner institutions, beneficiaries of educational, healthcare, and social institutions, civil society organisations, and citizens in local communities. By supporting both volunteers and the organisations that engage them, the initiative aims to strengthen the foundation for effective volunteer-driven initiatives that address social challenges and enhance community resilience.
A total of EUR 1,191,000 is available for funding under this call, with grants ranging from a minimum of EUR 85,000 to a maximum of EUR 170,000 per project. Eligible applicants include civil society organisations registered as associations or foundations that have been operating for at least one year in accordance with national legislation. These organisations must also maintain transparent financial operations and comply with relevant legal and accounting standards.
Entities such as unregistered organisations, branches without legal status, or those with a record of financial misconduct are not eligible to apply. Organisations currently in bankruptcy, liquidation, or those that have misused previous public funds will also be excluded from consideration.
This initiative by the Government of the Republic of Croatia represents a meaningful step toward empowering civil society and promoting volunteerism as a cornerstone of democratic participation, social inclusion, and sustainable community growth.
