Do you want to solve real-world problems through technology? If yes, then join Technovation Girls and lead the change!
Technovation Girls is a free technology-based program for girls ages 10 – 18 and is inviting teams of young people from all over the world to learn and apply the skills needed to solve real-world problems through technology. Along the way, they develop their collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Technovation Girls will take 30+ hours to complete (they recommend allocated about 12 weeks to finish) and is completely free.
Technovation is a global tech education nonprofit that empowers girls and families to become leaders, creators and problem-solvers. Since 2010, more than 25,000 young people from 100+ countries have participated in Technovation Girls. With the help of volunteer mentors, they’ve produced mobile app startups that have helped address problems in local and global communities the world over.
Since 2010, more than 25,000 young people from 100+ countries have participated in Technovation Girls. With the help of volunteer mentors, they’ve produced mobile app startups that have helped address problems in local and global communities the world over. And while each year more and more teams take up the challenge, they know that there are always more problems to solve … and that there are people from every part of the world ready to solve them.
After participating in Technovation Girls
- Students express a greater interest in technology and leadership after participating in their program, and 58% of their alumni enroll in more computer science courses after Technovation.
- That’s not all – alumni go on to start their own businesses, present at prestigious events, meet world leaders, and even return to support the next cohorts of Technovation Girls.
Their Learning Model
Their programs use a three-part model that helps girls and families develop greater self-efficacy and change their attitudes towards STEM.
- Identify real-world problems: Participants find a problem in their community and develop a solution to it, which helps bring technology to life in an immediate, tangible way.
- Build a team: Participants work in teams – whether it’s girls working with their friends with guidance from a parent or teacher, or a family getting everyone from grandma to the toddlers involved, Technovation participants work together in small teams to brainstorm, share the workload, and cheer each other on. When everyone’s contributing, everyone is also building a long-term community of learning.
- Get the Community Involved: They dedicate time to building trust with the local community leaders who bring Technovation to their schools, organizations, or towns. Technovation programs are designed to be flexible, so they can align with diverse community needs and goals and plug in to existing support networks.
