Deadline: 01-Oct-2025
The Nordic LGBTI Fund, administered by NIKK on behalf of the Nordic Council of Ministers, offers a vital opportunity for organisations to collaborate across borders in advancing equal rights, treatment, and opportunities for LGBTI people.
This initiative, part of the Nordic Co-operation Programme for Gender Equality and LGBTI 2025–2030, funds projects that strengthen regional ties, promote inclusivity, and add measurable value to LGBTI policy.
The Fund supports projects that provide clear Nordic benefits, demonstrating why cooperation across countries creates stronger outcomes than national or bilateral efforts. Proposals should highlight how collaboration builds cohesion, develops infrastructure, and addresses barriers unique to Nordic cooperation. At the same time, projects must show added value for LGBTI policy by tackling challenges limiting equal rights, generating new knowledge, and building on previous experience or research to drive change.
Sustainability is a central focus, with applications required to show how results will have lasting impact beyond the project’s lifetime. This includes networks, knowledge products, and other outputs that can be shared with target groups after the project concludes. Strong implementation plans are also essential, with applicants needing to show how their combined skills, roles, and perspectives create a feasible and effective response to identified challenges. Economic viability is another requirement, as applicants must contribute at least 20 percent of costs through financial input, sponsorship, voluntary work, or other means.
Eligible activities include staging Nordic meetings, inquiries, network-building, activity projects, and the participation of voluntary organisations in Nordic or international gatherings. A broad range of applicants can apply, including voluntary organisations, networks, authorities, non-commercial actors, and small and medium-sized enterprises. Political parties and individuals, however, are not eligible. Each proposal must involve at least three organisations from at least three Nordic countries or territories, including Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, or Åland.
Grants typically range from DKK 50,000 to 500,000, with projects expected to start within six months of signing an agreement and finish within two years. Funding is disbursed in two phases, with 75 percent provided upfront and the balance released after the final report.
By supporting cross-border collaboration and amplifying LGBTI inclusion, the Nordic LGBTI Fund creates a platform for organisations to influence policy, share knowledge, and deliver lasting results across the region. For organisations committed to equality and innovation, this call represents an important opportunity to build stronger, more inclusive societies.
