The UN Women Office in Haiti, in collaboration with the Ministry for the Status of Women and Women’s Rights (MCFDF) and the International Organization of La Francophonie, is relaunching its call for applications for a training course for trainers of the Academy of Women’s Political Leadership (ALPF).
This Academy aims to contribute to the consolidation of governance with a greater participation of women in the management of public affairs by strengthening the political leadership capacities of women. This is a capacity building program for aspiring women to hold elected positions through certification political leadership training workshops that includes mentoring activities and leads to the delivery of a certificate.
The ALPF is implementing one of the recommendations of the National Forum “Women, Peace and Political Participation” (Ann chita pale) which took place on April 3 and 4, 2019, on the occasion of the commemoration of the National Day of Haitian Woman Movement. The roadmap of this forum reaffirms the urgent need to promote respect for the constitutional quota of 30% of women in the management of public affairs and the importance of strengthening the political capacities of women who aspire to be candidates for elections.
Program Details
This training of trainers will be carried out intensively and will be spread over a month and a half. The trained person will have to return at least once on a voluntary basis with the supervision of UN Women. The program will cover, among others:
- Introduction to politics;
- History of political ideas in Haiti;
- History of the struggle for women’s rights in Haiti;
- The legal framework of the Haitian electoral system;
- Preparation and leadership;
- Communication (Creating the message; public speaking; creating a communication plan; promoting the interests of your political party; and talking about gender equality and women’s empowerment);
- In contact with the electorate (Definition and targeting of objectives; involve the electorate);
- Fundraising and financial planning; Management of the electoral campaign.
Selection Criteria
The choice of participants, called upon to transmit the acquired knowledge, will be made through a competitive process based on the following selection criteria:
- Education: at least the 1st university cycle completed (license level)
- Experiences in providing adult training, if possible for women and in areas related to women’s rights, women’s political participation, GBV or women’s empowerment for at least two (2) years; and
- Involvement in the promotion of women’s rights and / or in women’s political participation for at least two (2) years; and
- Member of a recognized women’s organization or civil society organization working in the promotion of women’s rights for at least two (2) years; and
- Experience in an elective or nominative position at least one year; and
- Fluency in spoken and written French and Creole;
- Quality of responses to the registration form.
