Deadline: 14-Sep-2025
The Council of Europe’s Office in Chișinău has launched a call for proposals under its broader effort to promote diversity and equality in the Republic of Moldova.
This initiative is part of the second phase of the project “Enhancing Diversity and Equality,” with a clear focus on supporting actions that combat discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and sex characteristics. One grant of up to €64,000 will be awarded to a successful proposal that demonstrates strong potential for real and measurable impact.
The general objective of the grant support is to foster a more inclusive and respectful society by promoting and protecting the rights of LGBTI persons. It aims to address a range of pressing issues, including hate speech, disinformation, and discriminatory practices targeting the LGBTI community. The selected project is expected to actively contribute to combating negative stereotyping and to reinforce messages of tolerance and respect throughout Moldovan society.
Eligible projects may tackle several specific goals. These include challenging disinformation and hate speech through public awareness efforts and encouraging a culture of inclusivity. Initiatives can also aim to counter harmful stereotypes by promoting accurate, rights-based narratives about LGBTI individuals. Advocacy, educational campaigns, and engagement with local communities are welcome components to support the broader aim of social inclusion.
Proposals may also seek to enhance legal protections for LGBTI persons by encouraging reforms and advocating for robust anti-discrimination policies. Strengthening the legal and social framework through such interventions will contribute to lasting progress toward equality in Moldova.
The implementation period for the selected project will begin on 13 October 2025 and must be completed no later than 25 September 2026. All reporting obligations related to the project must be fulfilled by 25 October 2026. This timeline ensures that both the delivery and documentation of impact are finalized within a clear and structured framework. This opportunity offers a vital platform for civil society actors to advance equality and foster real societal change in Moldova.
