The UN Women has launched a prestigious global award to recognize and celebrate the outstanding efforts of individuals, civil society, public institutions, and private sector actors working toward gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
The initiative seeks to highlight those who are advancing women’s rights, showcasing their leadership and innovative approaches that contribute to lasting social change.
At its core, the award aims to honor contributions that promote women’s empowerment and equality between men and women. It provides a global platform to celebrate achievements in this field, while also encouraging new and creative solutions that can be replicated or scaled across communities and nations. By fostering collaboration and inclusive thinking, the award underscores the principle that equality for all leads to shared prosperity and sustainable development.
Applications are welcomed from a broad audience, including women’s rights champions, civil society organizations, public sector institutions, and private companies. Each of these groups plays a vital role in shaping gender-responsive policies, programs, and initiatives that create meaningful opportunities for women and girls.
Four categories of awards are available, each offering a prize of $100,000: Public Sector, Private Sector, Civil Society, and Individual. The recognition not only honors past achievements but also provides resources to strengthen and expand ongoing work in advancing gender equality.
Eligibility is open to civil society groups, government institutions, private organizations, and individual advocates who have demonstrated impact in promoting women’s rights and empowerment. This award represents a unique opportunity to shine a spotlight on those driving progress toward a more inclusive and equitable world.
