Female-led start-ups encounter various set of challenges during the early stage of their ventures. As they move toward achieving global goals in gender equality and reduced inequality, there is a growing concern on the gap in financing start-up ventures founded by women entrepreneurs in the UK.
- Further, many female founders struggle with unconscious bias that leads to limited access to funding and other non-financial resources such as guidance, mentorship, and network to develop and grow their businesses at the same time juggle with multiple responsibilities.

What types of businesses are accepted onto the Impact Accelerator?
- They look for businesses that are late pre-seed or seed stage, have demonstrated traction. They should be addressing local and global challenges, and looking to make an impact on people, place or planet. Maybe you’re tackling climate change, improving health and wellbeing, or addressing food waste. If your business is making positive change, then they’d love to hear from you.
Eligibility Criteria
- Late pre-seed or seed, female-led start-ups that aim to address the most pressing local and global challenges. You will have demonstrated traction and are now looking to develop and scale up your business. Female founders must be living/operating in or benefiting Cambridge, Peterborough or the Greater Cambridgeshire area.
- The Impact Accelerator Female Founders is also open for ventures that have women co-founders with key leadership roles (i.e. CEO, COO, CFO or CMO).
- They welcome transgender womxn, non-binary and genderfluid individuals to apply.
