UN Women is currently accepting proposals for qualitative and quantitative study on political violence against women in Ecuador on social networks.
Purpose
Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on political violence against women in Ecuador with a special focus on social networks, which deepens in this area and supplement the Study on Political Violence against Women in Ecuador.
Scope of the Consultancy
- The study will provide a focus on the phenomenon of violence related to technologies cybernetics and social networks in the field of politics, and that is directed against women who they decide to participate in this field. This will generate evidence for the development of regulations. secondary that sanction this form of violence in the framework of the reform recently carried out of the Democracy Code. In addition, it will detect the reflection of political parties about her role in preventing this form of violence against women.
- For this you must:
- Retake the conceptual and operational definition of political violence against women that established in the aforementioned study, deepening these concepts in the framework of social networks and their role in political processes
- Develop a qualitative and quantitative methodology for measuring violence against women politicians in social networks, either in the process of being selected in their party, in the registration of their candidacies, in the election process, in their possession as authorities and finally in the exercise of his office. The reference will be taken information that exists from the 2019 sectional elections (big data).
- Carry out the qualitative information survey in 4 provinces of Ecuador with women politicians, which will be done through virtual means (not considered travel in this consultancy). The provinces are Pichincha, Guayas, Esmeraldas and Azuay (the proposal may vary a province)
- Perform a quantitative analysis through big data (social networks) on opinions, perceptions, or situations that show discrimination and violence towards the candidates in the 2019 sectional elections or to the women who are the authorities on duty. and. Analyze the information obtained on the role of social networks in relation to political violence against women.
- Produce recommendations against the information analyzed in the survey information
Eligibility Criteria
- To properly carry out this consultancy, it is considered appropriate to have the services of an organization or company that has the following experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in processes or projects to achieve gender equality in various fields.
- 3 years experience in processes of political participation and / or violence against women.
- 5 years experience in research development and experience on the use of networks
- Social and digital media as a tool for political participation
- There must be a minimum work team of:
- A consultant with expertise in gender and politics who can coordinate the process of research and provide the technical elements for it.
- Studies in the field of social sciences or related. 5 years of experience in processes of gender equality and / or political participation of women.
- 5 years of experience in the analysis of information, writing reports, among others, gender equality
- A consultant with expertise in big data analysis and statistics Studies in the field of sociology, economics or related branches. Knowledge of statistical programs for database management. 4 years experience in making information gathering instruments quantitative and data analysis.
