Entries are now open for the 2023 Hambleton District Business Awards!
They're celebrating the achievements and contributions of businesses in Hambleton. It is free to enter and it is an opportunity for profile and recognition.
They are looking forward to celebrating what you have achieved in the district in February 2023. Open to all businesses based in Hambleton.
Nomination Categories
- Family Business of the year: Awarded to the family business, large or small that can demonstrate how the business’s expertise/individuals skills have contributed to make the them a success and strengthen the business for the future.
- Microbusiness of the year: This award is for micro businesses who are performing beyond what you expect for a very small business. You need to demonstrate what makes you stand out amongst other microbusinesses (A microbusiness is defined as one with 1-9 people).
- Service Excellence Award: Awarded to a business or individual who puts customers at the centre of its service. It could include how the business or individual look after customers and go that extra mile in their services.
- Start Up Business of the year: This will be awarded to a business or individual that has started a business, has secured a solid foundation and has filled a gap in the market. It is open to any start-up business operating for under two years.
- Sustainability Award: Awarded to the individual or business that can demonstrate how it has either been established on sustainable principles or has moved towards a more sustainable method of manufacturing, operating the business or delivery of services.
- Apprentice of the year: This will be awarded to the apprentice who has developed most in the role, since joining the business and has contributed most to the business (Apprentice funded by Hambleton District Council).
- Vibrant Market Towns Ambassador: Awarded to the individual who has had the greatest impact to the vibrancy of Hambleton’s market town or towns. The winner will have gone and beyond their day to day remit; this could include building business and/or community cohesion, encouraging visitors, providing local leadership and advocating the town(s) as great places to shop and spend quality leisure time.
- Young Entrepreneur: This will be awarded to an entrepreneur aged 30 or under, who have set up a business where they can provide an example to other young people in Hambleton and beyond, giving them inspiration and ambition.
- Innovation: Awarded to an individual or business demonstrating the most innovation with regards to marketing, design, manufacturing, performance of services or adapting to the changing market place. It could include improved manufacturing processes or the design of a product or service.
- Digital: This will be awarded to an individual or business that has had the greatest impact in taking forward the company into a digital age. It can be any sector and any sized business, but should demonstrate how the business has grown and developed using digital platforms or technology.
What happens now?
- Once the deadline has been reached the entries will be judged and if you are a finalist you will be invited to join them on 28 February 2023 for the ceremony.
Entering the Awards

You can submit up to 3 high resolution images for example:
- A photograph of you
- A photograph of your team
- A product
- Your apprentice
- If you are a customer or supplier of the business you are nominating and do not have any images of the company you are nominating they will contact them for images.
- There is a time limit of one hour for you to submit your entry so perhaps prepare some words in advance. The form is quite simple to complete so you should not run out of time.
- You will receive an email confirming that your entry has been received.
