Applications are now open for the Australia-ASEAN Emerging Leaders Program (A2ELP), an Australian Government initiative and a flagship program for the Australia-ASEAN Council (AAC), curated and run by Social Good Outpost.
Over three months, A2ELP brings together the next generation of young social entrepreneurs from across Southeast Asia and Australia to build business skills and networks for social impact.
Program Aims
Bringing the region’s leading young social entrepreneurs together from March-May 2023, participants will:
- build knowledge of scalable and sustainable business models to achieve long-term change
- develop skills to engage a range of stakeholders
- receive training in cultural intelligence and innovative startup and social enterprise methodologies
- participate in networking events and cultural activities, and pitch at a finale gala event
- discuss the latest thinking and ideas in social impact with academic experts and industry leaders
- develop connections through peer mentoring and alumni engagement
- receive professional photography, meet angel investors and industry leaders,
- travel to Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, for a week-long in-person intensive from 26 April – 3 May 2023
Eligibility Criteria
- 35 years and under
- Social entrepreneur
- 5 Australian representatives and 10 ASEAN representatives (one from each ASEAN country: Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei)
- Must be able to commit to the full program, including orientation/on-boarding/off-boarding online and in-person intensive workshops in Australia.
- Must have a current passport with at least 6 months valid post-return to home country.

- Demonstrates high-potential as a regional leader
- Demonstrates an awareness and good knowledge of regional issues
- Has a desire to connect more with Australia/ASEAN
- Runs a social enterprise and has a vision for its growth/development
- Can demonstrate an appetite for learning
- Demonstrates strong values-led leadership
- Communication skills and English proficiency
