The Marc de Montalembert Foundation and the École du Louvre have formed a partnership to sponsor the Marc de Montalembert Prize, worth 9,000 euros.
The prize will be awarded to support a research project whose anticipated results will constitute an original contribution to the knowledge of the arts of the Mediterranean world from Antiquity to their day. The Foundation will also offer the prize holder the possibility of a residency at its headquarters in Rhodes, Greece.
The Marc de Montalembert Foundation and the École du Louvre have joined forces to award the Marc de Montalembert Prize, which aims to support research and its dissemination in the field of culture and art of the Mediterranean world, antiquity to the present day.
Objectives
- The Foundation, established in memory of Marc, 1972-1993, has three main projects :
- To conserve the garden and summerhouse which it restored in the medieval town of Rhodes, in Greece and manage their use for cultural activities related to the Mediterranean region;
- To encourage among young people from the Mediterranean the discovery and study of the cultures of the region through annual grants (7000€) and Prize (9000€);
- To facilitate the dialogue between men and women from diverse Mediterranean cultures : it offers its seat in Rhodes as a meeting place for encounters where experiences can be shared and ideas debated in a quest for mutual understanding.
Benefits
- Scholarship worth 9,000 euros;
- One month-residence at the Ecole du Louvre’s Research Center along with an allowance to support a one monthstay in Paris;
- Possibility of residence at the Foundation’s headquarters in Rhodes (Greece).
Activities
- The grant: Provides support to cultural projects or related to craft based on a genuine vocation and focusing on the Mediterranean region.
- The Marc de Montalembert Prize: Provides support to advanced research on history of arts and cultures of the Mediterranean region, in association with the Ecole du Louvre.
- Intercultural dialogue: The Foundation is the host on its seat in Rhodes, Greece, to encounters on Mediterranean cultural subjects with participants from diverse horizons.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible, the candidate must:
- Be either born in or a citizen of a country bordering the Mediterranean;
- Be under 35 years of age on November 30, 2022;
- Hold a PhD degree (doctorate).
