Deadline: 24-Oct-2025
The Ashinaga Africa Initiative (AAI) is now accepting applications for its 2025 cohort, offering a life-changing opportunity for ambitious and resilient young individuals from Sub-Saharan Africa.
This international leadership program is dedicated to supporting students who have lost one or both parents and who are committed to using their education to drive change and development in their communities.
The AAI provides full financial support for undergraduate studies abroad. This includes tuition, accommodation, travel expenses, and other essential costs, allowing selected scholars to focus fully on their academic and personal growth. However, the program is not just about funding—it is about nurturing the next generation of leaders who will become catalysts for innovation and social transformation across the African continent.
Eligibility for the Class of 2025 is open to young people who are nationals of Mozambique, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, or São Tomé and Príncipe. Applicants must be no older than 22 years of age by December 31, 2025, and must have completed high school with an overall average of at least 65%, including a minimum of 65% in Portuguese. Candidates must also demonstrate financial need, be in good health, and show a clear commitment to returning to Sub-Saharan Africa after completing their university education to contribute to their home communities.
Applicants must also be ready to take part in a one-year preparatory program with Ashinaga before starting their university studies. Additionally, individuals with Brazilian nationality or Brazilian parents are not eligible for this program.
The Ashinaga Africa Initiative stands as a powerful platform for talented, driven youth who are determined to overcome adversity and lead positive change in Africa. This is more than just a scholarship—it’s a launchpad for leadership, impact, and a brighter future for the continent.
