The Fondation L’Oréal has launched the L’Oréal Romania for Women in Science Endowments Program to support and encourage the involvement of young Romanian women in scientific research. The initiative is aimed at recognizing talented female researchers working in the fields of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Computer Science.
The program will award 4 grants of 50,000 RON each in Life Sciences and 4 in Physical Sciences. Additionally, 2 grants of 50,000 RON each will be awarded to women working in Computer Science. These endowments are intended to support research carried out within Romania.
Eligibility for PhD participants requires that applicants be no older than 40 by July 7, 2025, enrolled in a doctoral school or research institution in Romania, and be in at least the second year of their PhD. Their research must fall within the scientific domains outlined in the program’s guidelines. Candidates must also have no criminal record or ongoing investigations.
Post-PhD candidates must also be no older than 40 by the program’s start date and must have earned their doctoral degree in one of the eligible fields. They should be part of a certified post-academic research program in Romania and have started their postdoctoral work before July 7, 2025. Like PhD candidates, they must have a clean criminal record. Previous winners of this grant are not eligible to apply again.
Applicants will be evaluated based on the quality of their application and scientific excellence. They must submit a two-page CV in English that shows how their training and knowledge support their current research. They should also provide a list of publications and patents, and a public-friendly 200-word summary of their proposed research, formatted clearly in Times New Roman, size 12, single spacing.
For scientific evaluation, candidates must submit a research plan with methodology, scope, novelty, and expected results. This description must be a maximum of five pages, including references, and written for scientific experts. A realistic budget should also be included. The project should demonstrate innovation, creativity, and a meaningful contribution to the candidate’s field, benefiting both national and international scientific communities.
