Deadline: 15-Aug-2025
Applications are now open for the Small Grant Accessibility Program, which aims to support grassroots and innovative cultural initiatives in Saskatchewan. The program is designed to respond to emergent needs or changes in the cultural sector and create access for first-time and underserved applicants.
This initiative supports organizations that have never received SaskCulture funding before and encourages youth-led projects and leadership development among young cultural leaders. It also strengthens community connections through cultural activities at the individual, group, and community level and funds professional development for cultural organizations.
Priority is given to grassroots initiatives, especially those from Indigenous, ethnocultural, 2SLGBTQ+, or disability cultural groups, and those promoting accessibility, social inclusion, and Truth and Reconciliation, Anti-Racism, or Anti-Oppression work. Projects should be based in rural, northern, or underserved communities and include a clear plan and budget.
The grant supports small-scale initiatives with total expenses not exceeding $5,000. Applicants can request up to $2,000 to cover 100% of eligible expenses. These may include wages or honoraria for cultural workers, travel costs, materials, technology for cultural activities, professional development, and facility rentals if extra space is needed. Advertising and promotion can make up to 10% of the grant amount, with justification required for exceeding this.
Eligible applicants include incorporated and unincorporated non-profit organizations, First Nations, Tribal Councils, Métis Locals, municipalities, and rural libraries serving populations under 6,000. Organizations must have a cultural mandate or show significant involvement in cultural activity, be in good standing with regulatory bodies, and, if unincorporated, have a Canadian bank account or a sponsoring organization.
The program excludes organizations that have received SaskCulture or significant Sask Lotteries funding in the past year, for-profit businesses, larger urban libraries, districts for sport and recreation, schools, post-secondary institutions, individuals, and ECOs receiving Annual Global Funding. Schools are encouraged to apply through other programs such as Artists in Schools or Multicultural Education Initiatives.
Applicants are advised to consult with a SaskCulture Outreach Consultant for guidance or use the “Find a Grant” tool to explore alternative funding options.
