The United Nations Association (UNA) of the USA, San Francisco (SF) is inviting nominations for its Emerging Leaders for UN Agenda 2030 Award Series.
This award series recognizes emerging leaders of San Francisco who made an extraordinary contribution to achieving the UN Agenda 2030 and can serve as a role model and an inspiration for taking action towards a brighter future for all.
Award Nominations
- Emergent Civic Leader for UN Agenda 2030 Award: This award is given to activists, volunteers, nonprofit leaders, artists, scientists, and other members of the civil society who made an extraordinary contribution to the UN Agenda 2030.
- Emergent Business Leader for UN Agenda 2030 Award: This award is given to social entrepreneurs, impact investors, CSR officers, and other members of the private sector who made an extraordinary contribution to the UN Agenda 2030.
- Emergent Public Leader for UN Agenda 2030 Award: This award is given to elected officials as well as government employees and contractors who made an extraordinary contribution to the UN Agenda 2030.
- Emergent Systems Leader for UN Agenda 2030 Award: This award is given to cross-sectoral leaders who address a combination of material, institutional, cultural, and mental conditions of complex systemic challenges that keep communities from achieving the UN Agenda 2030.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nominees must be youth (under 21 y.o.) or young professionals (21–39 y.o.)
- Self-nominations are allowed
- Nominees must have at least one of the following connections to San Francisco:
- Born in San Francisco
- Currently live, work, or study in San Francisco
- Lived, worked, or studied in San Francisco in the past for at least 4 years
- The work that is the basis for the award is at least partially done in San Francisco and/or has a direct positive impact on San Francisco communities
- Nominations must show an explicit connection between the nominee’s achievements and advancement towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- Key achievements that establish a claim for the award must be made, at least in part, during the year when the award is given, and they must demonstrate a breakthrough to a new level of impact compared to what the nominee had done before.
