There are two entry categories, based on your school level as of 1 February 2022:
- Primary school.
- Secondary school.
Funding Information
- The winner in each entry category is awarded $500.
Eligibility Criteria
- Entry is open to students who are Australian residents aged 18 and under who live or attend school in the Western Region Local Government Areas of Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Melton, Moonee Valley, Wyndham and Hume.
- The artwork must not exceed 1.4 metres x 2 metres x 1.4 metres (depth) or 30kg in weight.
- Only one entry per-person.
- There is no entry fee.
- The artwork must be available for exhibition at Footscray Community Arts from 15 July – 6 August 2023 (this does not include installation dates).
- Students under 16 must have a completed parent/guardian consent form.
Note: Young Artists can only enter once in the Young Artist Category specific to their age group.
Terms and Conditions
- The Promoter is the responsible party in the Footscray Art Prize Group (Partners), which consists of Footscray Community Arts , Maribyrnong City Council, the Rotary Club of Footscray and Victoria University.
- To enter you will need to provide a photograph of an original artistic work, which includes but is not limited to; paintings, drawings, photographs, engravings, sculptures and installations (Artwork).

To enter you must select the entry category, age and eligibility details and complete an online entry form, which must be received by Midday, Monday 20 March 2023. The completed entry form must be accompanied by:
- a short description of the Artwork (max 50 words);
- a JPEG image of the actual Artwork named with the appropriate naming format (LastName_FirstName_ArtworkTitle); and
- a consent form signed by a parent or guardian if the entrant is under 16 years of age.
- Entrants will receive a confirmation email once a correct entry has been submitted.
- The primary school category Artwork must not exceed A3 (30cm x 42cm) or 1.5kg in weight.
- The secondary school category Artwork must not exceed A2 (42cm x 60cm) or 5kg in weight.
- Artworks must be clearly labelled on the back (or other unobtrusive place) with the entrant’s name, title of the Artwork, contact details and installation instructions. Artworks that are not labelled correctly may not be included in the exhibition. No responsibility will be taken for lost or misplaced Artwork that was not clearly labelled.
- Entrants must take responsibility for the transport of their Artwork to and from Footscray Community Arts.
- Entrants must be individuals and not companies or other entities. Employees and immediate family members of: The Partners, associated agencies and/or companies, that are any way involved in the Promotion, are not valid entrants in the Promotion. Councillors of the Maribyrnong City Council and their immediate family members are not valid entrants in the Promotion.
