The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals from eligible organisations for a program entitled “Support to Civil Society and Media Initiatives” to enable civil society and Kosovo’s media sector to fulfil their role in the democratic environment; to act as independent interlocutors, to monitor public institutions, to contribute increasing accountability and transparency in policy development and decision making processes.
Objectives
- To support the consolidation of a tolerant, democratic culture in Kosovo by funding Civil Society and Media at local and grass roots level.
- To strengthen the competence, transparency, effectiveness, accountability and self-governance of Civil Society and Kosovo’s media sector.
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this call for proposals for both lots must fall between EUR 450,000 and EUR 500,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person
- be non-profit-making
- be a civil society organisation
- be established in Kosovo
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary
- either have a proven background and a minimum of 3 years of experience within the last 5 years in the field of the application and/or have at least one experience of sub-granting within the last three years. Where the applicant has only one of the two criteria they must act with a co-applicant who has the other one.
- Potential applicants may not participate in calls for proposals or be awarded grants if they are in any of the situations
- The lead applicant must declare that the lead applicant himself, the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies) are not in any of these situations.
- The lead applicant may act individually or with co-applicant(s).
- The applicant will provide financial support to other organisations.
- Financial support modalities (i.e. total amount of financial support, different call for proposals to be launched, timeframes, objectives, amounts, selection procedures, etc.) need to be described in the Concept Note and Full Application.
- If awarded the grant contract, the lead applicant will become the beneficiary identified as the Coordinator. The Coordinator is the main interlocutor of the Contracting Authority. It represents and acts on behalf of any other co-beneficiary (if any) and coordinate the design and implementation of the action.
How to Apply
- The application procedure consists of two phases:
- Concept notes
- Full applications
- In the first instance, only concept notes must be submitted for evaluation. Thereafter, lead applicants who have been pre-selected will be invited to submit a full application.
