The Wilson Home Trust (WHT) is seeking applications for the Family Holiday Grant Program to support a family who is in significant need of time out and pay for accommodation and travel costs within New Zealand.
Purpose
- The overall purpose of The Wilson Home Trust is to provide care and rehabilitation to “Children with Physical Disabilities” living in the “Qualifying Area” (being “eligible children”) and to provide respite and assistance to their “Families” and to work within the community living in the Qualifying Area to further such objectives.
Aims
The Wilson Home Trust grants scheme:
- aim to improve the lives of children and young people with physical disabilities
- provide physically disabled and children with enriching and enjoyable experiences
- enhance the quality of life of children or young person with a physical disability
Funding Information
- The maximum amount is $1,000 excluding GST ($1,150 including GST) per trip and there is a cap of $2,000 excluding GST ($2,300 including GST) in total per family before the child turns 22 years.
- There must be a minimum of six months between grant applications and please allow no less than 20 days before your planned holiday.
- The holiday grant is valid for 3 months. You may apply anytime and just need to get prior approval from the Trust.
Eligibility Criteria
Grants can be made in respect only of children and their families who fit the following criteria:
- Age: Children / Young Adults are under the age of 22.
- Physical disabilities are those which primarily impair function of body and/or limbs. Additional sensory (vision, hearing,) and intellectual (cognitive, behavioural, mental) disabilities may be present, but will not be the primary reason for the funds requested.
- The child or young person’s disability needs to be described in terms of the impairments, activity limitations and/or participation restrictions
