The Government of Canada is seeking concept papers for the Labour Program’s second round of the “Workplace Opportunities: Removing Barriers to Equity” to support employers subject to the Employment Equity Act (the Act) in their efforts to improve designated group representation in areas of low representation through partnerships and industry-tailored strategies.
Workplace Opportunities will provide funding to eligible recipients to develop tailored solutions to support the four designated groups under the Employment Equity Act (women, Aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities, and members of visible minorities).
Program Objectives
- Improved representation of one or more of the four designated groups within workplaces, occupational groups or sectors with low representation.
- Improved understanding among stakeholders of industry-specific barriers to inclusion and effective human resources practices to address them.
- Development of new inclusion tools and guides tailored to industry-specific needs.
Funding Information
Funding of up to $500,000 total per fiscal year is available and may be distributed in whole or in part to approved projects, provided recipients contribute financially (no minimum) or in-kind to the project.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Labour Program will accept proposals from the following categories of organizations:
- Federally regulated private-sector employers
- Employer associations or councils
- Unions
- Sector associations or councils
- Non-governmental organizations
- Not-for-profit organizations
- Academic institutions
- All project submissions must be partnership-based. Industry participation is mandatory. Applicants are expected to create or build on partnerships that strengthen project outcomes through their reach, expertise, and financial or in-kind support.
