The Victorian Government is seeking applications for its LGBTIQ+ Leadership Program that gives leaders in lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ+) communities an opportunity to develop their skills and strengthen their networks.
The program provides a safe and supportive environment for participants to build their leadership and organisational management skills, as well as network with other LGBTIQ+ leaders. Participants explore issues, challenges and opportunities unique to LGBTIQ+ communities and contemporary leadership theory and practice.
Participants leave the program with
- increased confidence,
- an understanding of their strengths and leadership abilities,
- knowledge of LGBTIQ+ histories and achievements, and
- learnings from the experiences of other LGBTIQ+ leaders.
How much does the program cost?
- There are no program fees for participants. Participants are expected to attend all sessions and activities.
- The Victorian Government has funded in full the 2023 Victorian LGBTIQ+ Leadership Program.
- There is support for travel and accommodation for people who need financial support to take part. This includes reimbursement for reasonable out-of-pocket expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
- The 2023 program is open to LGBTIQ+ people living in regional and rural Victoria.

To participate in the program, you must:
- identify as LGBTIQ+,
- be over the age of 18, and
- live in regional or rural Victoria.
Note: you do not need to currently be in a formal leadership role or working in an LGBTIQ+ organisation to apply.

The program will be a mix of in-person and online activities. It will include the following:
- Welcome event and activities (Melbourne location).
- Four online leadership development sessions.
- One weekend intensive (regional location).
- Four online Community of Practice sessions.
- Four leadership coaching sessions.
- Closing celebration event (regional location).
