The Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) is offering grants through its Community Benefit Fund that broadly focuses on the categories of health and wellbeing, safety, education, environment and sustainability, arts and culture, indigenous affairs, and other community benefit initiatives.
The initiative is run by the QAL group on behalf of Gold Coast Airport, Townsville Airport, Mount Isa Airport and Longreach Airport.
Categories
All applications for the Community Benefit Fund must fit into at least one of these funding categories to be eligible for consideration. The funding categories are defined as follows:
- Health and Wellbeing
- Initiatives that improve the overall health and wellbeing of members in the local community, including sporting bodies and projects related to supporting mental or physical health.
- Community Safety
- Initiatives that increase safety and security in the local community, such as projects related to emergency response, crime prevention, natural disaster prevention, accident prevention and road safety.
- Environment and sustainability
- Initiatives that promote environmental enhancement and/or sustainability in the local community. Examples include improving biodiversity of natural habitats, community conservation and environmental education.
- Education
- Initiatives aimed at increasing the education of the local community in areas such as literacy and numeracy, life education, apprenticeships and traineeships. Schools and tertiary education providers may apply.
- Arts and Culture
- Initiatives that encourage creativity amongst the local community in the musical, artistic or performing arts space.
- Other community benefit
- Initiatives aimed at supporting the Indigenous community and/or enhancing Indigenous cultural awareness in the broader community.
- Indigenous Affairs
- Initiatives from community groups that encourage and positively contribute to the community but may not necessarily fit into one of the above categories.
Eligible Projects
- The Foundation can only provide funding for projects that have a charitable purpose.
- Charitable projects must align to the following:
- relief of poor, aged or impotent
- advancement of education
- advancement of religion
- other purposes beneficial to community such as:
- relief of human distress
- safety and protection of the community
- protection of animals
- protection of the environment
- improvement of agriculture
- promotion of industry or commerce
- assistance for immigrants or emigrants
- locality cases:
- facilities/land for public use
- monuments
- beautification improvement & preservation of a locality
Eligibility Criteria
- The Foundation can only fund not-for-profit organisations with a current and valid ABN.
- If your organisation does not meet these criteria you will need to partner with an organisation that does to be eligible for funding
- A project partner will become a party to your application and receive the funds on behalf of the applicant.
- The project partner should be making a tangible contribution to the project either monetary or in-kind.
- A partner template letter of support can be downloaded from within the online application This must be completed and attached to your application.
