The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science & Technology (S&T), Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency (HSARPA), Cyber Security Division (CSD), the Netherlands Ministry of Security and Justice (S&J) and the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) is seeking proposals for its joint research activities in “Cyber Security Research Programme”.
The ultimate goal is to collectively select a number of proposals for which we will make funding available. The programme wants to enable Netherlands-based researchers and U.S.-based researchers to collaborate with each other in a joint execution of high quality research proposals and to help build long-term relationships among scientists from the two countries.
Research Themes
DHS CSD, the Ministry of Security and Justice and NWO have jointly selected two themes which should be the main focus of the submitted research proposals. As research themes the following Technological Topic Areas (TTA’s) are selected:
- Industrial Control Systems/ Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (ICS/SCADA)
- Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks and the Domain Name System (DNS)
Funding Information
- The total budget available for funding in selected joint research projects is M€ 2,35.
- Half of the available budget is provided by DHS CSD, and will be awarded to the U.S.-based applicants.
- The other half of the available budget is provided by the NOW and the Ministry of Security and Justice and will be awarded to The Netherlands– based applicants
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications can be submitted to NWO by full, associate and assistant professors and other researchers with a comparable appointment if they:
- hold an appointment/a position at a Dutch university or a research institution acknowledged by NWO
- possess at least a Master’s degree or a comparable qualification
- have a contract (appointment) for at least the duration of the anticipated research project for which the grant is being applied for
- Researchers are not allowed to submit more than one proposal in the capacity of main applicant. Involvement in other project proposals in the capacity of co-applicant is allowed.
