The Mainstreaming Rio Convention Provisions into National Sectorial Policies in Jordan that is funded by the Global Environment Facility’s (GEF) implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are seeking a call for project grant proposals for Pilot Projects on the National Rangelands Strategy and the National Drought Management Plan for Water Sector in order to respond to the following main constraints hindering the mainstreaming processes in the targeted national strategy/plan:
- The existing regulatory-institutional set ups for rangelands and drought management;
- The technical expertise, capacities and technologies used in rangelands and drought management;
- The weak coordination/ collaboration mechanisms to effective rangelands management and drought response;
- The linkage of rangelands management to local poverty eradication;
- The use of traditional local knowledge and information exchange;
- The co-management and participation;
- Women involvement in both rangelands and drought management;
- Resilience and adaptation to drought.
Funding Information
- The total granting scheme is up to USD 240,000.
- The maximum amount of a grant agreement to be signed by a single legal entity as a Beneficiary would depend on available allocations and cannot exceed USD 40,000
Funding Criteria
- Proposers are encouraged to submit proposals with lower budgets. Co-funding and in-house budget contribution is an advantage.
- Applicants may submit more than one project proposal but only one project proposal may be supported
- Eligible costs include salaries , workshops, training, stationary, equipments, publications, social media fees and other costs necessary to the fulfilment of the pilot project.
- Ineligible expenditures include: debts and provisions for losses or debts; salaries of government official and civil servants; project preparation activities; costs already incurred before the signing of the agreement; non-project related expenditures; interest owed; items already financed in another framework; purchases of land or buildings; currency exchange losses; credits to third parties and costs for refurbishment (office renovation, restoration) of current premises unless they are directly related to project activities.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Call for Grant Proposals is open to all national NGOs, CBOs, capacity development centers, research centers, academia and municipalities.
- Applicant organizations shall be registered in accordance with the legal requirements of the Government of Jordan and must be able to provide organization’s statute.
- Applicant organizations should have minimum one year proven experience in projects management
