The Auckland Council is seeking applications for its Devonport-Takapuna Quick Response Grant Programme.
Priorities
- They welcome grant applications that align to the following priorities:
- Activities that:
- enhance and conserve the unique beaches, open spaces and parks
- conserve the valued heritage sites
- protect and enhance the natural environment.
- Support for the sports clubs and recreation facilities
- Communities are empowered to deliver placemaking projects including arts, culture and events
- The communities celebrate diversity and feel a sense of belonging
- Support for local economic development.
- Activities that:
- Higher priority for eligibility
- Projects that demonstrate smokefree and zero waste programmes.
- Community Match Fund – groups who demonstrate that 40 per cent of project costs have already been met, including the approximate value provided by volunteer contribution to projects, events and/or initiatives.
- Lower priority for eligibility
- They will also consider applications for other services, projects and activities, but we may identify them as lower priorities:
- Events which clearly benefit the region rather than just the local area, and which can, therefore, apply for regional or central government grants.
- Event management costs or wages.
- Groups and activities taking place outside the local board area, unless the applicant can clearly demonstrate the benefit to the local board area.
- Catering.
- Commercial events or events that promote a brand or company.
- Events that raise money for third party fundraising.
- Grants to support the purchase of assets and equipment with limited future use.
- They will also consider applications for other services, projects and activities, but we may identify them as lower priorities:

Types of projects funded by the grant
- Arts
- Community
- Environment
- Events
- Heritage
- Sports and recreation
What they don’t fund?
- Wages and salaries for ongoing administration with the exception of fees for professional and specialised services.
- Retrospective costs, unless this is necessary as a condition of the grant, or the local board is satisfied that there are mitigating circumstances.
- Groups which have failed to meet accountability obligations from previous Council grants will not be funded except in exceptional circumstance, and/or by stipulating that completing accountability is a condition of grant payment.
- Gifts/prizes.
- Initiatives that are eligible and can be funded by central government.
- Applicants are generally ineligible to apply for the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board contestable grants if they have had two successful grant applications within the current financial year.
- Applications towards alcohol or liquor licenses.
- Projects and activities in schools and churches unless a plan on how the project will be open to the wider community or benefit to the wider community can be demonstrated.
- Permitting fees.
- Travel and accommodation unless there is strong evidence of benefit to the community.
- Applications that require commitment to ongoing funding or financial support.
Eligibility Criteria
- community organisations with a formal legal structure
- groups or individuals with no formal legal structure can apply for up to $1,000 (Kaipatiki Local Board will not fund individuals)
- applicants seeking funding over $1,000 will need to nominate an umbrella organisation or
- receive funding retrospectively
Ineligible
- Political parties
- Internal applicants
- Auckland Council CCOs
- Other local authorities, government agencies or public sector entities.
