The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) seeks applications for funding under the National Public Safety Partnership (PSP)—Limited Competition Capacity Building Grant Program.
Goals
- The program’s goal is to assist PSP sites who are entering their third year and/or have completed their three engagements with PSP with resources to implement recommendations that facilitate the sites’ strategic plans to reduce violence, as well as support personnel and technological enhancements that support the cities’ strategic plan and assessment recommendations and enhance their capacities to combat violent crime, increasing their potential to be sustained over time.
Objectives
- Enhance current programs and/or establish new programs that address the goals of the site’s strategic plan and assessment recommendations.
- Establish and/or expand programming that enhances the local jurisdiction’s ability to effectively and sustainably prevent and respond to crime, especially violent crime; the programming could include the hiring of new law enforcement agency and prosecutorial personnel.
- Invest in technology to support the analysis of intelligence and data in innovative ways that enable site prosecutorial and local law enforcement agencies to identify case leads, identify violent criminal activity, and focus resources on the people and places associated with high concentrations of crime.
- Invest in civilian subject matter experts and personnel such as crime analysts or investigative analysts to support violent crime reduction.

Eligibility Criteria
- The program provides funding to prosecutorial and/or local law enforcement agencies from participating National PSP who have completed a minimum of two years and/or completed the program within the last year obtaining resources that will assist with the implementation of goals of PSP Strategic Plan and recommendations resulting from PSP assessments.
- This initiative is a collaboration between local law enforcement and local/state prosecutorial agencies. Applicants are limited to the police department, local prosecutorial agencies, or other governmental agency acting as fiscal agent for the aforementioned agencies in the following cities:
