The Wolfson Foundation is offering grants to support performing arts organisations with an outstanding artistic programme to improve their performance and training facilities.
The Wolfson Foundation generally award grants towards the refurbishment of artists’ facilities like dressing rooms or other backstage spaces, towards refurbishing auditorium facilities such as seating and rehearsal spaces, and to teaching and education facilities. They also occasionally provide grants for specialist equipment.
Funding Information
- Minimum grant amount: £15,000
- Usual grant range: £15,000 – £150,000
Eligible Projects
- Your project must have a total cost of at least £250,000 and have at least one of the following aims:
- Improved quality of performance venues
- Better teaching, education and rehearsal facilities
- Increased audience numbers
- Improved future sustainability of the organisation
- Conservation of architectural heritage.
Eligibility Criteria
- Your organisation should:
- have a record of producing work of national significance
- receive significant funding under one of the following:
- Arts Council England’s National Portfolio
- Arts Portfolio Wales
- Creative Scotland’s Regular Funding Network
- Arts Council Northern Ireland’s Annual Funding Programme
What they don’t fund?
- Examples of ineligible projects and costs include:
- Purchase of land or existing buildings (including a building’s freehold)
- Grants direct to individuals
- Grants through conduit organisations
- Overheads, maintenance costs and VAT
- Non-specific appeals (including circulars) and endowment funds
- Costs of meetings, exhibitions, concerts, expeditions, conferences, lectures, etc.
- Salary costs
- Running costs, including vehicle fuel and maintenance
- Film, websites or promotional materials
- Repayment of loans
- Projects that have already been completed or will be by the time of award
